Forza MotorSport 5

“Forza Motorsport 5” was released in November, 2013, for the Xbox. Developed by Turn 10 Studios and published by Microsoft Studios, “Forza Motorsport 5” was the #3 best Xbox game of 2013. Players get the experience of driving one of over 200 exotic race cars around legendary tracks. While the 200 cars look remarkable and the developer paid attention to every detail, fans of previous versions are disappointed with the low car count. “Forza Motorsport 4” had over 600 cars to race compared to the 200 in this version. The number of tracks on which players can race has also been decreased in this version, but the ones included are well chosen.

While racing, players will be impressed by the realistic look of the cars and track. The lighting, shadows, and even accident damage make for a more realistic look. Accompanied by realistic audio, from the squeal of tires, to the roar of engines, to the thumping of the helicopter blades overhead, “Forza Motorsport 5” doesn’t disappoint. Playing on the Xbox even gives racers “feedback” on their controller in the form of vibrations and shaking as they drive over different ground surfaces.

Each car can be customized with new paint and upgrades. Also, the game has a new “Drivatar AI” which learns from players realistic driving behaviors and uses those behaviors to create opponents for you to race against. While it is more fun to race against other “real” players, the drivers created by the Drivatar AI can be just as fun.

One last complaint from racing enthusiasts is the lack of environmental options like weather options and time of day options in this version. However, for the racing fan, this game is worth a try.
